SINOPSIS/SYNOPSIS

Una tragedia. Dos familias. Demasiadas mentiras.
En la década de 1930, dos amigos inseparables, Pau Monsó y Joan Farré, pasan su infancia obsesionados con el Home dels Nassos. Cada 31 de diciembre salen a buscarlo, pero nunca lo encuentran. Su amistad se transforma en amor a medida que pasan los años, pero todo cambia cuando la guerra llega a Vallviva, su pequeño pueblo de montaña. Es precisamente un 31 de diciembre de 1938 cuando los dos amigos, ahora ya adolescentes, tienen la tarea de vigilar el valle por si llegan las tropas franquistas. Justo ese día, ocurre una tragedia.
Treinta años después, el día de Navidad de 1968, Clara, una niña mestiza procedente de Guinea, llega al pueblo…, que ya no se llama Vallviva, sino Vallmorta. Su padre, Lluc Monsó, misionero y hermano de Pau, ha muerto y la ha enviado a vivir con su familia en Cataluña. Clara conoce a su abuela, a su tía y a su prima, Lali, una niña miedosa que sufre un fuerte estigma social por su cojera. En el pueblo, todo el mundo odia y margina a su familia. Poco a poco, Clara descubre que el rechazo de los vecinos se debe a que todo el mundo señala a Pau Monsó como el traidor que propició la tragedia de 1938. Pau murió aquel día, y el único superviviente fue Joan Farré, que se convirtió en el líder del pueblo. La abuela, en cambio, explica otra historia a sus nietas: a Pau se lo llevó el Home dels Nassos, por su traición y sus mentiras.
Las vidas de Clara y Lali dan un vuelco cuando tienen que colaborar con Ventura, el hijo de Joan, para guardar un secreto que no pueden revelar a nadie. Pero Clara esconde otro secreto que solo ella conoce. Muy pronto empiezan a sospechar que el Home dels Nassos los persigue y deben descubrir cómo esquivarlo sin confesar la verdad. Lo que no saben es que las mentiras del presente se enlazan con las del pasado. Y que ellos son la clave para descubrir lo que realmente ocurrió hace treinta años.

A tragedy. Two families. Too many lies.
In the 1930s, two inseparable friends, Pau Monsó and Joan Farré, spend their childhood obsessed with the Nose Man. Every 31st December they go out to look for him, but they never find him. Their friendship turns into love as the years go by, but everything changes when the war comes to Vallviva, their small mountain village. It is precisely on 31 December 1938 when the two friends, now teenagers, have the task of guarding the valley in case Franco’s troops arrive. On that very day, tragedy strikes.
Thirty years later, on Christmas Day 1968, Clara, a mixed-race girl from Equatorial Guinea, arrives in the village… which is no longer called Vallviva, but Vallmorta. Her father, Lluc Monsó, a missionary and Pau’s brother, has died and she has been sent to live with his family in Catalonia. Clara meets her grandmother, her aunt and her cousin, Lali, a frightened girl who suffers a strong social stigma because of her limp. In the village, everyone hates and marginalises her family. Little by little, Clara discovers that the neighbours’ rejection is due to the fact that everyone considers Pau Monsó to be the traitor who caused the tragedy of 1938. Pau died that day, and the only survivor was Joan Farré, who became the leader of the village. The grandmother, however, tells her granddaughters a different story: Pau was taken away by the Nose Man, because of his treachery and lies.
Clara and Lali’s lives are turned upside down when they have to collaborate with Ventura, Joan’s son, to keep a secret that they cannot reveal to anyone. But Clara hides another secret that only she knows. Soon they begin to suspect that the Nose Man is after them and they must find out how to avoid him without confessing the truth. What they don’t know is that the lies of the present are linked to those of the past. And that they are the key to discovering what actually happened thirty years ago.
