Juan es un anciano que vuelve a casa en tren y que en el viaje se encuentra con una mujer joven con la que se anima a hablar. La conversación girará en torno a su profesión de ferroviario y el paisaje por el que discurre el viaje; pero sobre todo y por encima de todo Juan habla del amor, el amor a su mujer, a la vida que ha vivido y a los trenes de cercanías, como lugar de encuentro y conversación, porque hubo un tiempo en el que lo importante del viaje no era el destino, sino quien lo hacía a tu lado.
