Nació en Granada, la única ciudad del mundo con nombre de explosivo.
Con seis años su padre le encañonó con una pistola. Ni siquiera recuerda su nombre.
Con diez ingresó en la Falange porque quería tocar el tambor. Sus mayores influencias musicales han sido la Semana Santa y su primera hostia, la que le dieron al nacer, quizá la más artística y la menos dolorosa.
Se casó con dieciséis años. Poco más tarde empezó a consumir drogas para evadirse. Debería haber muerto antes de los treinta.
Durante cuarenta años ha golpeado la batería como la vida le ha golpeado a él, con todas sus fuerzas.
Eric Jiménez es el batería de Los Planetas y Lagartija Nick, con quienes grabó junto a Enrique Morente el mítico disco Omega. Durante veinte años consecutivos ha recibido el premio al mejor batería alternativo español.
Su historia es la de un hombre que ha estado siempre en la cuerda floja, entre ganar y perder, entre la vida y la muerte, entre la música y la locura.

He was born in Granada, the only city in the world with the name of an explosive.
He was shot by his father when he was six years old. He doesn’t even remember his name.
When he was ten, he joined the Spanish Phalanx movement because he wanted to play the drums. His greatest musical influences are Holy Week and his first slap, the one he was given at birth, perhaps the most artistic and least painful.
He got married at the age of sixteen. Shortly afterwards he started taking drugs as a way of escape. He should have died before he was thirty.
For forty years he has beaten the drums as life has beaten him, with all his strength.
Eric Jiménez is the drummer of Los Planetas and Lagartija Nick, with whom he recorded the legendary album Omega with Enrique Morente. For twenty consecutive years he has received the award for the best alternative Spanish drummer.
His story is that of a man who has always been on a tightrope, between winning and losing, between life and death, between music and madness.
